Cobell Scholarship is a scholarship program that provides financial assistance to American Indian and Alaska Native students pursuing higher education.
The program was named after Elouise Cobell, a member of the Blackfeet Tribe who was a prominent advocate for Native American rights. The scholarship is available to full-time and part-time students pursuing a degree at an accredited tribal college or university, as well as at any nonprofit institution in the United States.
The Scholarship covers tuition, fees, and other educational expenses, and recipients can receive funding for up to four years.

To be eligible, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be an enrolled member of a US federally recognized tribe
- Be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited US institution
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher (or equivalent)
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by the institution’s financial aid office
Cobell scholarship requirements
American Indian and Alaska Native students must be enrolled in or accepted to accredited institutions in the United States. Here are the basic eligibility requirements:
- You must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe or a descendant of an enrolled member.
- You must be a high school graduate or have earned a GED.
- You must be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education, including vocational schools, technical schools, tribal colleges, and universities.
- You must be pursuing a degree or certificate program in any field, with the exception of medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or the law.
- You must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

- Create a profile by submitting the Applicant Profile. The Profile can be edited/updated at any time, please always keep contact information and institution information up-to-date.
- Once the profile is complete, applicants must complete the Eligibility Form with which OASIS will match applicants to open scholarship opportunities based on the self-reported responses provided in the Eligibility Form.
- If there is no available application, review all responses entered on Eligibility Form, then contact scholarships@cobellscholar.org to request changes to be made.
Cobell scholarship deadline 2023
The Applicant Profile via OASIS It depends, it can be submitted at any time throughout the year, except between Dec. 1 and Dec 14 when the program may be closed for maintenance.
